Waiting and waiting and more waiting, ohh and a whole lot of reading.
That is what I've learned are the basics of building an EV.
There is a lot to learn and a lot to take in with EV technology and that makes for lots and lots of reading. It's a tough choice on what batteries to go with and then based on that what controller, charger and what motor to use.
I've narrowed my decision down to a DC based system using LiFePO4 batteries. The LiFePO4, Lithium Iron Phosphate, sometimes referred to as LFP batteries give a great weight to amp hour ratio and have a longer life than most other batteries, 2000+ charges and a wider temperature range and above all else they are non-explosive making them much safer than lithium polymer or lead acid.
Now the somewhat hard part, finding a supplier. Due to the crazy shipping and border fees I may have to order some batteries and have them shipped to a P.O. box just over the border.
Now I need to decide on the controller, motor and charger.
I'm also still waiting on a reply from the guy who has a few MGB-GT's for sale. I'll e-mail tomorrow to see if he's had a chance to take some photo's.
More research, more reading and more patience.
