Review: Makers

I've just finished reading Makers by Cory Doctorow.
A phenomenal book about a couple of tinkering geeks in a humid future Florida that own a junk yard of sorts located in an abandoned mall.

Cory Doctorow is certainly a leader of future tech and he paints a view of the future that has a plausibility that leaves others behind.
Makers stands aside from his previous books and is definitely the flagship of all his works.

This book mirrors the the feel of the early days of personal computing combined with the dot com boom and bust from the personal point of view of a few people intimately involved in making it happen.

After the first few chapters I had a renewed drive to complete my cnc machine. I was also given a few ideas for new projects.
By the end of the book I was seeing things in such a new light that I had to start writing down all the new projects I wanted to build. A truly inspiring book.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in what the future may look like or just looking for an excellent read.
